Helen A. Dubee
GLENS FALLS • Helen A. Dubee, 92, passed away on
Monday, Oct. 24, 2005, at Fort Hudson Nursing Facility after a long illness.
Helen was born in Glens Falls on July 12, 1913, the
daughter of the late Howard and Edith (Haight) Van Derwerker.
Helen graduated from Glens Falls High School and
went on to secretarial college.
On Aug. 28, 1941, Helen and Richard Dubee were married
by a family friend, the late Rev. Adrien Bechard, at St. Marie’s Church
in Cohoes.
Helen worked as a bookkeeper for the Economy Store
for many years, and then for Glendale Furniture, retiring upon their closing.
After retirement, she worked at Adko Color Lab, helping her son Adrien.
She was a member of St. Anne’s Sodality at her parish,
St. Alphonsus Church, for 62 years. She also volunteered for the
hospital guild, and enjoyed spending time with the ladies of Stichman Towers,
until her illness.
Her favorite pastimes were the cherished times she
spent with her granddaughter, “Nina T.D.” and playing cards with her friends.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband,
Richard Dubee.
Helen is survived by her two sons, Adrien R. Dubee
and his wife, Jaclyn, of Queensbury, and Joseph A. Dubee and his wife,
Beverly, of Princeton, N.J.; and her granddaughter, Nina T. Dubee, of Queensbury.
At Helen’s request, no calling hours will be held.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday,
Oct. 30, at St. Alphonsus Church, with the Rev. Thomas Babiuch officiating,
assisted by Deacon William Bazinet.
Burial will take place at St. Alphonsus Cemetery,
at a time to be announced.
Arrangements are under the direction of Sullivan-Minahan
& Potter Funeral Home, 407 Bay Road, Queensbury.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen’s
memory to: St. Alphonsus Church, 4 Crandall St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.
